Since childhood, Wendy had a dream to be a farmer.
In 2012, after 20 years as a stay at home mom she began working for a local certified organic farm. She learned everything she could, from farmers market sales, field work, raising chickens, pigs, and sheep. In 2017, she and her husband purchased a home and small acrage in Rochester, WA. Wendy and her friend Karin set to work! |
People ask
"What's the fiber part?"While working at the certified organic farm, a flock of sheep were purchased and Wendy was tasked in their care. She needed to learn about sheep quickly. In true Wendy fashion, she headed straight to the local library and checked out every book available on sheep care.
Already a knitter, during her research spinning caught her attention. She purchased a used wheel, took a beginning spinning class at her local yarn shop and the obsession was born! Today, she offers fiber classes including wheel spinning, drop spindle, and fiber preparation. In 2020 the first Finn sheep where purchased for the farm and the flock was begun! |
