Every year after the holidays I struggle with the short days and that itch to get out and weed, clean up the different areas, and get things growing again! Here in the Pacific Northwest, as I'm sure you have heard, we get a fair amount of rain and cloudy days. But, on those rare occasions when the sun peaks out and the rain stops you start hearing the murmur of "is it ok for me to start some plants?!". Last year we got that itch in February during an unusual warm up and paid the price. We had slow growing or lost seeds because we then had a sudden cold snap in March that lasted until mid June. Now this is a bit unusual even for this area, but with climate changes happening each year I ask myself "well is this the new normal?".
Today Karin and I worked on one of the apple trees and it was fabulous! You find the things you CAN do in the moment and patiently wait for the rest!
Spring will come folks!
